RESIDUAL OZONE DESTRUCTOR
Catalytic residual ozone destructors
At industrial facilities equipped with an ozonation unit, the most important peripheral component of the design of water treatment and water treatment equipment is the system for removing and destroying excess ozone, designed to remove the residual ozone mixture from the gas cushions of contact tanks (apparatuses) and lower the maximum allowable concentration of O3. The main component of the system is ozone destructors - devices that decompose gas into oxygen and oxidize carcinogenic organic compounds.
The principle of operation of the Destructors is based on the process of catalysis, during which the exhaust gas with ozone residues is converted into oxygen and released into the atmosphere through ventilation. Thus, hazardous substances are not allowed to enter the airspace of the working area. The presence of ozone is controlled by special analyzers, which are equipped with the destruction system.
Ozone destructors are vertically cylindrical aggregates filled with a catalytic filling that promotes the decomposition of O3. The design features of the device and the substance used as a catalyst are selected depending on the type of ozone generator and its operating modes. In industrial practice, when ozonizing water, catalytic and thermal catalytic destructors are mainly used.
Catalytic modifications are installed in tandem with oxygen and atmospheric Ozonizers. The function of the catalyst is performed by pressed tablets or molded extrudates of hoptalum of the GTP brand. GTP brand GOPTALUM is characterized by high activity, coking resistance, heat resistance and resistance to moisture. GOPTALUM does an excellent job of purifying air from a variety of volatile compounds, toxic and poisonous gases, quickly restoring its working properties after a cleaning operation.
Catalytic Destructors do not use sources of additional energy, since the process of ozone decomposition is accompanied by heat release, and the catalyst heats up on its own.
